In 2013 the Mediterranean Diet was inscribed in the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There were 7 countries involved in this nomination (Cyprus, Croatia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Morocco, and Portugal). In order to demonstrate they deserved this acknowledgment, they had to present an inventory of their Mediterranean assets-

Within the MD.net project, an inventory was gathered in order to maintain and expand the intangible knowledge.

This inventory shows the similarities organized to create awareness regarding the great diversity of techniques and elaborations that offer a repertoire of practically unlimited dishes, but that maintain some clear constants.

Finally, a total of 1,232 items were collected for the Mediterranean Diet Inventory.

Traveling through this inventory opens a door to a network of culture that is shared and safeguarded in the Mediterranean.
